Blog #15 week 4

Chapter 7 deals with peer relations and moral development. I will be touching on prejudices and how they are formed. Schools are becoming more and more culturally diverse. For many students the first interaction they have with a student of a different race is in the classroom. Prejudices form when a child develops a negative view of another group. These can be very destructive in a classroom setting. As parents and teachers, we need to teach our students that forming prejudices and false assumptions of others is wrong. For the child that is being seen as different from others in the class, they can become left out and feel like noone in the class likes them. From here the child will develop a low self-esteem, and can lead to other problems.
