For my application paper i did chapter 6 which is based on "Self concept, Identity & Motivation," which is similar to the article we read. It talks about teaching students to be self regulated learners which means they have to be intrinsically motivated and i think that this has to be enforced by all teachers. If self regulated learning is enforced into the curriculum at a younger age, students will learn to find strategies to attain the information and knowledge needed. Just like your special education students who may need scaffolding but they need to select strategies to help them achieve their goal. This article does a great job in explaining these concepts so for those who are doing chapter 6 and have not completed their application paper, use this article to help you.
